Events Channing Developed, Planned & Executed:

Working in restaurants & hotels in both FOH & BOH Channing has curated, planned, hosted, & executed a variety of events. Below are a few stand out events that went above & beyond.

Veuve Clicquot Party (2015) – Crú – A Wine Bar

Restaurant Works, the parent company of Crú – A Wine Bar, mandated the stocking of Veuve Clicquot (VC): La Grand Dame, Rosé, & Yellow Label to honor Madame Clicquot’s birthday in December of 2015. Restaurant Works promoted the fact that we were bringing in the three previously mentioned products for Madame Clicquot’s birthday with a one email blast & one Facebook post. To generate more revenue, Channing developed a full event centered around Veuve Clicquot. The below items were planned & executed:

  • A $40 Veuve Clicquot wine flight was created using all three SKUs. This was the most expensive flight Channing had offered and sold in her career at Crú.

  • Veuve Clicquot pillows for the couches acquired at no charge from a distributor.

  •  A Veuve Clicquot Wine Bucket Raffle was created, using product Channing and Crú already had on hand. The raffle included, a VC wine bucket, a bottle of VC Yellow Label, house-made white-chocolate truffles, & two Crú branded Champagne glasses. The idea was to generate continued to excite for both the VC & Crú brands outside of the Crú space.

  • Mini yellow cake cupcakes topped with champagne buttercream produced in-house, & were given to every person that ordered a glass, flight, or bottle of VC. The cupcake was topped with a sparkler creating a supremely visual sensory experience for everyone in the restaurant.

The Result: The restaurant was standing room only on a Tuesday, the typical business was less than half of this increasing sale as a whole. A small amount of additional revenue was generated through raffle ticket sales. Most importantly, this event made people feel like we were celebrating them and their birthdays as well as Madame Clicquot’s.

About the Concept: Crú – A Wine Bar is a wine bar concept based out of Dallas, Texas. Crú’s concept centers around the delivery of flights, three 2-oz. pours of three different wines with a commonality. The concept also houses a full kitchen and boasts over 300 different wine labels at each location.

Channing was severing as the General Manager and Wine Buyer of Crú – A Wine Bar in the Woodlands, Texas at the time of this event.

Prom Never Dies (2013) Absolve Wine Lounge

Absolve had a large number of regulars that were in multiple times a week. One such regular, Jerry, was dating a woman who never attended her prom. As a result, we took matters into our own hands and held a prom for her.

As with all proms we had to have a theme, we selected James Bond (a character that resonated with our crowd) as the motif for the event, appropriately dubbing the event ‘Prom Never Dies,’ aptly named after the movie Tomorrow Never Dies with Pierce Brosnan.

To set the scene, each corner of the bar was decorated in association with a different James Bond movie. One corner featured a poker table (Casino Royale), another corner housed a DJ dressed in astronaut gear (Moonraker), the third corner was outfitted with golden dolls (Goldfinger), and lastly, we showcased an area for guests to take their picture in front of the infamous gun-barrel rifling image, hand-painted, framed with black & gold balloons anchored with wine bottles. With a projector in-house, we played a custom loop video of every opening James Bond sequence to help set the mood & the tone for the event.

We developed a series of hors-d’oeuvres to be passed throughout the night in addition to house-made wine & spirit (under 18% alcohol) based cocktails each named after a famous James bond villain. Naturally, we also featured Bollinger champagne for our guests to indulge if they chose.

The entire event was promoted through table tents, Facebook, & an ‘invite’ projected onto the bar wall for several weeks leading up to the event.

Result: This event successfully drew in a large group of attendees as well as the Houston Press, a local magazine, that took photos and interviewed guests throughout the evening. Further, we made a regular feel that much more special because we held an event specifically for him & his date.

About the Concept: Absolve Wine Lounge was a small, independently owned wine bar located in the Montrose area of Houston. It was known for its intimate atmosphere, modest wine selection, & petite snack menu. The concept sold in 2017 & is no longer in operation.
